Bencao Gangmu, this book is great to collect most plants' functions and explain what sickness or pain the plants can treat and heal. It has been over 390 years since it published to the public.

We still use this book today as the workpiece for Chinese medicine and it works too. The only difference I think between today's plants, or herbs and the ones in the old days is that nowadays all the herbs are grown up by us, not wildly. Plus the polution, it is not difficult to get to know how the function of the herbs is now.

Chinese medicine has history as this book lasts. As one part of Chinese culture, we Chinese show more respect to it and them. Chinese medicine is still alive in our daily life. Like this morning my niece was told by her grandma to have some Chinese medicine to heal her coldness. Every city and town here has one or more than one Chinese medicine hospital or clinic and pharmacies.
